Parent

Why am I running for school board? That’s an easy one.

I have two little ones in elementary school. They’re my reasons.

I want the best for them and for all of our Wildcat kids. I want to represent all of the elementary school parents who are just starting out on this journey with us. I want to represent all of the Novi parents who celebrate that we are the #1 district in Michigan and who recognize there’s always room for improvement.

Educator

I am proud to be a Novi graduate. I am thankful for all of the amazing teachers who encouraged me, guided me, and showed me what it really means to educate the whole person.

I try to carry that forward in my own work. As a professor, I work hard to meet my students where they are and to give them the skills they need to reach their goals. I know for a fact that our teachers do the same thing every day. I am committed to ensuring that all of our teachers and staff have the support and tools they need to truly educate our kids.

Advocate

I study and teach public health every day.

One of the core tenets of public health is using evidence to build policies that protect everyone, especially the most vulnerable. This mentality is exactly what a school board is supposed to do for their students.

I am committed to bringing a public health perspective to the school board, through community engagement, a prevention mindset, data-driven decision making, clear communication, population- and systems-level approaches, and closing gaps to support every single individual’s success.
